Family tree

One big canvas for roots, relatives and generations, that keeps growing with you.

The tree is the heart of the site: every person has a card with a photo, dates, age and places, and all the relations between them sit on one board you can drag, zoom and search.

The canvas

A large board you can drag and zoom, with cards colored by gender and a photo or initials
Search for a person and the view jumps to them in the tree. The site-wide search also finds by notes, life stories and places, even with a small spelling mistake
"This is me": the tree opens centered on you each time. The choice is kept on your account, so it works on every device, and it also tells the site who your children are for milestones
"Relationship between us": pick two people and see how they are related and the chain connecting them
A branch view of one person, or several lineages together, each lineage in its own color you can change
A map of birth places, with a list that takes you from a place to the person in the tree

What you keep about each person

First and last name, nickname, maiden name, gender, occupation, a phone (saved with its country prefix) and notes
Living or deceased: for the deceased add a date of death, a place of death and a burial place
Exact, approximate or year-only dates; the age is calculated automatically, "about" when only the year is known
Zodiac sign, and Hebrew dates in the insights, for exact birth dates only
Places: birth, residence, death and burial, with suggestions from places already entered
A profile photo, or if there is none, their latest yearly photo

Relations

Parent, partner, child and sibling: link an existing person or create a new one
Biological, adoptive or foster parenthood
Partners: married, partners, divorced, separated or widowed, with a wedding date and an end date for divorces
Siblings and half-siblings are detected automatically from shared parents
A "+" button under a card: father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, brother, sister, son, daughter, husband and wife in one tap, with a preview of what will be created
Protection against loops in relations, and a warning when you add someone whose name is similar to a person already in the tree

Photos through the years

A yearly gallery for each person: a photo for every year, plus a birth photo and a half-year photo
A caption for each photo, replacing it, and setting it as the profile photo
"Play growth": a slideshow of the person through the years
A family album filtered by person and by decade, sorted newest or oldest first
The album is a collection of the photos added to each person’s yearly gallery; photos cannot be uploaded to it directly

Timeline and insights

A timeline of births, deaths, weddings and divorces by decade, which you can narrow to one person
Insights: events in the next 30 days with the Hebrew date, birthdays by month and season, zodiac signs, common names
Charts by decade, generations and records, age gaps, length of marriages and children per couple
Places, migrations and countries, and how much of the tree is filled with stories and photos
A data check, and filtering by branch or by family name

Export, book and sharing

Export to a GEDCOM file (for other genealogy software) and a full backup as a JSON file
A family book and a personal book for each person, ready to print or save as PDF through the print window
Each family member gets view or edit permission on the tree, separately from the other features
Link two families to one shared tree, with the option to disconnect
Birthdays, anniversaries and memorials of people you marked with the bell, with a reminder on the day

Who can do what: The family admin decides for each member whether they can view or edit Family tree, or have no access to it. The feature can also be switched off for the whole family.
