1family.Home is a private family app. Each family is a closed space, and only people who were invited can get in. No family sees another family’s information, unless both families approved linking their trees into one shared family tree.
Account details: when you sign in with Google, your email address and name are stored, only for identification and permissions. The name and color you chose to show in the family, and your language, are stored as well.
Content the family adds: people in the family tree (name, dates of birth and death, places, occupation, phone, notes), photos, life stories and voice recordings, dates, lists, drawings, recipes, poems, articles, documents, budget and events.
Conversations: questions and answers that participants wrote, and heart marks, are kept in a private journal that only the participants of the conversation can see, not the rest of the family and not its admins. A child without an account who joins a conversation at the table appears only by the name that was typed.
Milestones: a title, date, description and photo of moments in the children’s lives. By default they are private to the family that wrote them, and only if you choose to share a child’s milestones can families linked to the same tree see it, read only. A link between a family member and a person in the tree ("who am I in the tree") is stored as well.
Height and weight of children: the date, height, weight and a short note. The measurements are private to the family that entered them and are not shared with the tree. The comparison with the World Health Organization curves is for information only and is not medical advice.
Family pets: the name, kind, breed, dates, description, photos and weight of pets. The card and the photos are private to the family that entered them, and only if you choose to share a pet can families linked to the same tree see it, read only. The weight is always private.
Event guests: a name, a phone number (optional), the number of seats and the answer sent through a personal link. These people are not users of the site, and whoever adds them is responsible for having permission to do so.
AI service keys: a family admin can enter a key from Anthropic or OpenAI. The key is kept on the server only, is not exposed in the browser and cannot be read back through the site.
Technical data: essential cookies (sign-in, the active family, language, display preferences and the cookie notice), anonymous visit statistics on the public pages, with cookies only if you agreed (see "Cookies and browser storage"), accessibility preferences in the browser, and a notification subscription on a device where you turned notifications on. When a page fails, the browser reports to us which page and which file, the browser type and the screen width, with no personal content.
A family tree includes information about living and deceased people. Whoever adds information about another person is responsible for having the right to do so (see the terms of use).
The site operator sees aggregate usage data only: how many families and members there are, which parts of the site are turned on and in use, the family name, the owner’s email address, and creation and last-activity dates. The operator does not see a family’s content (people in the tree, photos, stories, documents, budget and so on) through the admin dashboard.
The information is used only to run the site. It is not sold, it is not passed to third parties for advertising or marketing, and it is not used to personalize ads.
Access to the parts of the site is set by the owners and admins of each family: each person views or edits only the parts approved for them.
Family members’ sign-in asks only for the email and name. Family admins can choose to also connect Gmail (read-only, to scan invoices) and Google Drive (to pick files). Access happens in the browser with a temporary authorization that is not stored on the server. Our use of information received from Google complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Database and file storage: Supabase (servers in the European Union). Hosting: Vercel. Sign-in: Google. Artificial intelligence, only if a family admin entered a key and a person started the action: Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI (ChatGPT), according to the key the family chose. They receive the content of scanned invoices and credit-card statements, or a photo of a recipe, only to be read. Payment for the usage is directly with the provider, in the family’s own account, and they are subject to their own privacy policies. Questions and answers in conversations are not sent to AI services. Notifications: through the browser’s or the operating system’s notification service. Exchange rates: a public service for currency rates, with no personal information. Visit statistics on the public pages: Google Analytics, with no cookies until you agree in the cookie notice. We use no advertising tools, and there are no third-party analytics tools inside the family app. When payment is turned on, payment details are handled only by an external payment provider.
The site uses essential cookies, needed for it to work, and does not ask for consent for them. There are no advertising cookies. On the public pages only (home, pricing, features, blog and the legal pages) Google Analytics runs in a restricted mode: before you agree it stores no cookies on your device, and Google receives only technical information about a page view (the page address, the time, the browser and device type, and an approximate location from the IP address). If you agree in the cookie notice, it also uses the cookies _ga and _ga_ for up to two years, to recognize returning visits and count visitors. We switch off Google Analytics’ advertising data collection and ad personalization. No statistics are collected inside the family app. Choosing "Essential only" keeps the restricted mode, and you can change your choice at any time through "Cookie settings" at the bottom of the home page and of this page. Your accessibility preferences and temporary items that improve speed are also kept in the browser.
Information is protected by permissions at the database level, and communication is encrypted. We keep the information as long as the account and the family are active. The technical error log is kept for about 30 days. No system is completely secure, so we recommend not uploading especially sensitive information.
You have the right to see the information stored about you, to ask to correct or delete it, and to remove your access at any time. A person who appears in other people’s tree can ask them to remove or correct information about them.
You can write to us at 1familyhomeapp@gmail.com, or to your family’s admin.
The site is meant for families and is managed by adults. Children in the tree, in photos and in conversations appear under the responsibility of the parents who add them, and in conversations only by name.
We will update the policy from time to time. A material change will be published on the site, and the last-updated date appears at the top of the page.
